Blue Pony Mesa

This is my entry for The American West Category of the "America, the Beautiful" 2007 competition for Trail of Painted Ponies.

This was my first entry, and I must give credit where credit is due: to Bodie Rose (aka Cindy Wysowski), fellow Cowboy Shooter, friend, horse-woman, and my personal quasi-manager who bugged--er, REMINDED me, for over a year to submit a design.

Info: The Trail of Painted Ponies began in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2001 as a public art project that raised almost $1 million for philanthropic organizations. It has evolved into a fine art and licensing company based in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Canyon Beauty Figurine

Summer of 2007, I received a notice from the ToPP people that they were  considering making Canyon Beauty into a figurine. Of course, that made me quite happy.

What didn't make me happy was that the figurines issued in the last few years have had textured surfaces. The uncolored mock-up for Canyon Beauty, while catching the rockscape texturing, in the rough stage seemed to lose the sense of distance. (Though to be fair, it was hard to tell without any color enhancing the figurine.)

Apparently they thought so, too, as I have gotten no further notice about a release, and no release date has been scheduled. I can only assume that the final effect didn't live up to the original.

If anything changes and I get notified about a release, it will get posted here.
